Eagles Wings FoundationCabo San Lucas EWFEagles Wings Foundation, though the vision of Jim McCarthy, was the first non-profit of its kind in Los Cabos. Villa del Palmar Owners were provided with an avenue to give back to the "Paradise" they had come to love as their vacation home, and the philanthropic funding given through the Eagle’s Wings Grants provided the momentum needed by several grass roots organizations. The day care center “Los Ninos del Capitan” had just started to invent itself through the determination of Herminia Losada. She had found a widower with seven children who had nowhere to leave his brood while he worked long hours in construction. Herminia was loaned a home, and the number of children taken care of while their mothers or fathers worked rose to ten...fifteen...twenty. Finally, there were more children than room, so funds were found and a beautiful school was finished for these children. The opportunity to have this safe haven while their parents work has changed children’s lives. Amigos de los Ninos was also setting forth the avenues to accomplish their Mission of providing quality medical care to children in need. Grants from Eagle’s Wings were vital to this organization ‘s ability to help children. Amigos De Los Ninos was holding Free Clinics annually in specialities such as tonsillectomies, hearing aids, reconstructive surgery, pediatrics and cardiology. For the seriously or chronically ill, there is a "Special Case" children’s category. Children with neurological problems, in need of orthopedic surgeries, ophthalmology surgeries, even heart or brain surgeries, have been helped back to health. Right now, over a thousand children are seen in ADLN Free Clinics annually, and over sixty are “Special Cases” receiving the medical attention that alleviates the life and death consequences they are facing. Mobilize Mankind, an organization supplying wheelchairs, braces and physical therapy to special needs children has been awarded an Eagle’s Wings Grant for the purchase of batteries for the ten electric wheelchairs they have brought from the USA. These chairs are for several children who are able to go to regular school, but unable to get around because of conditions such as cerebral pallsy or spina bifida. The electric chairs are allowing them a chance for an education. And so the story continues. Los Cabos grows as do the organizations who provide benefic support to those who need it the most. They are able to count on support from Eagle’s Wings and the untiring work of Jim McCarthy to give more every year and to provide an organized path for the funds so generously donated through you!
